About the event

Human beings are conscious living entities. Consciousness is spread throughout the body. Where does our consciousness originate from? Is it a product of the brain, e.g. are our brain activities stimulating consciousness, or has it another source? What does the present stand of scientific data say about consciousness, self reflection and the brain?

The talk will fuse traditional philosophical insights with the latest in consciousness sciences by using contemplative exercises to explore what it means to be conscious; it will further define axiomatic principles that should underpin any discussion on mind, self and consciousness.


Martin Fleming (UK) is a distinguished Vedanta philosopher known for over 400 broadcasts on BBC Radio 4 specializing in human consciousness and reality subjects. He trained for twenty years in a meditative yoga discipline, studying the experiential metaphysics of India’s extensive Vedic texts.
